What does the Fox say?

My one son stopped in to the house the other week and his amazing vision picked a fox out up in the field behind the house. We watched him for awhile and were able to see him pounce through the snow for a meal before trotting up to the corner of the mountain and disappearing from view.

These beautiful creatures get somewhat of a bad rap in some methods of divination; mainly Lenormond, where the meaning tends to point to a cunning trickster. Actually, in the one class I had taken, the instructor likened him as one of the shady characters in Lenormand.  Though the description made me chuckle and helped with the meaning; I struggle to see Foxes in that light.

When looked at from another perspective, foxes symbolize resourcefulness. They use what is available to them in order to merely survive.  
So how can we understand fox symbolism and what it may be trying to tell us?

With any sort of "signs", it is important to apply the animal medicine to what is happening in your life to understand the particular message. If you are seeing Foxes repeatedly, consider what is happening in your life and then ask yourself some of these questions.

Is there an area of my life that I need to proceed with some caution? Are there resources available to me that I am not utilizing to their fullest? In what area do I need to exert more independence? Am I being selfish or doing anything that would be considered self serving? Are others acting in this manner? How can I use the tools available to overcome short sighted thinking and limiting beliefs? And finally, what opportunities do I need to pounce on at this time?

Spiritually, to me, along with resourcefulness, I look to fox as a sign of manifestation, independence and communication. Starting a new journey, and coming into your own personal power. A sign that you have all the tools necessary, and now  is the time to stay focused on your task to see it through to completion. 

 When looked at through these lenses, what the fox says becomes much more clear.
